Wamalwa was announced in the ongoing Buy and Win promotion by Coca-Cola that was launched in April, which is giving five consumers a chance to win tickets to Qatar.

Speaking at the Heritage Hotel, Nkubu, Meru County, Wamalwa could not hide his joy stating that the win will stand to motivate the youth that he coaches at Nkubu’s rehabilitation center where he helps guide and protect them from social vices through football.

“My love for football has kept me in the field to date and now I have been granted an opportunity of a lifetime by Coca-Cola to watch the world’s greatest football tournament and players in action, it is an honor, and I am extremely excited and grateful,” said Wamalwa.

Wamalwa, a resident of Nkubu, is a 40-year-old active football player, well recognized by locals by his field name “Mulika’” due to his stunts as a defender.

Wamalwa is currently the captain of Nkubu Veterans FC aka Nkubu’s “wazee league” which he facetiously said came to be as they could not keep up with the youthful players, but still had love for the game.

“It is not every day that something you have poured your heart and life into pays off, I believe mine finally has,” he said.
